Writing Genre #4: Post-Essay Reflection
I learned one most important things about writing is that there are no limits to a way of writing. For example, as I am writing a new essay I am learning a new method I never knew. During my most recent essay, I learned a new way of writing more of a new type of genre. For my recent writing, I chose to write an informative essay and I never knew there is a possible way to add an opposite point in an informative essay. I add the opposite point in my writing just like information about the counterpoint instead of showing that I am arguing. That’s what I have been doing when I was in high school presenting an argument for both positions.
I have also learned how to write my essay without using “I, or Me, ”. During my rhetorical analysis, I was confused about how to demonstrate that in my essay. With the help of an example essay, I was able to do that. I talked about my audience, purpose, thesis statement, and tone. I would say I learned how to write a rhetorical paper that I didn’t know in August.
My research question: What do Muslims believe about angels and How the Quran analyzes the angles? My audience was mostly Muslims but I also include nonmuslims who know about angels’ existence but don’t know what Quran says about angels. My audience, tone, and language strengthen my writing because I got to include my purpose because I thought about my audience.
Well during the writing, I got to share my thoughts and my writing process with the processor, which was a great idea because I got feedback. Additionally, 1 on 1 meeting with the professor helped to form my counterpoint in that genre of writing that I choose. Other things like types of sources and requirements for this recent essay were already cleared out at the beginning of the writing assignment.
